Claim Every Penny of the ‘Eat Out To Help Out Scheme’ with the Goodtill iPad POS
What is the Eat Out To Help Out Scheme?
Every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday in August, restaurants registered with the scheme will be able to offer a 50% discount to customers who eat in.
This applies to food or non-alcoholic drinks, up to a maximum of £10 discount per diner, and can be used as many times as possible.
How To Claim?
Establishments can claim reimbursement from the government until the 30th September, but only 5 can be made during this time.
To make a claim HMRC requires establishments to collect the following:
- The total number of diners (covers) who have used the scheme, including children
- The total amount of discount you’ve given
- The period you’re claiming for
If you’re making a claim for more than one establishment, you will need to have the:
- The records for each establishment
- The total value of the claim for all establishments ready before you claim
For the 72,000 establishments who have registered for the scheme, keeping track of these discounted transactions will be a core challenge.
With no physical or electronic voucher available, alcohol excluded and no minimum spends, the onus is on the individual establishment to track all discounted transactions.
What has Goodtill Done to Help?
As the UK’s leading iPad POS for the food & beverage sector, our development team has worked tirelessly to release a new update to facilitate these changes.
To help offer the government-backed scheme to customers, we now have a dedicated button that automatically discounts the relevant items.
Benefits Of Using The Eat Out Update
- Apply the discount in One Click, saving valuable time.
- Automatically applied to food & drink, avoiding manual calculations.
- Increase the speed of your service, so you can deal with customers faster.
- Accurate reporting to claim all revenue from HMRC.
- Don’t miss out on sales revenue due to poor systems.
For multi-site venues where insight is key, they can benefit from the reporting required for making an accurate claim.
This is one reason why the UK’s most exciting food halls and venues are now powered by Goodtill. Freight Island, Shelter Hall, Brixton Jamm, Hatch and Kerb are all saving time with the new Eat Out update.
What Success Have We Seen?
At Goodtill, our POS has seen over 90% of our food & beverage merchants use the discount button.
In the first 3 days of the scheme, we saw over £1.7 million of transactions and a huge amount of positive feedback from our customers.
Further COVID-19 Support
From 15th July 2020, VAT on hospitality and tourism services has been reduced from 20% to 5% and will apply for six months until January 2021. Goodtill POS has introduced the recent VAT change feature that allows customers to backdate any VAT discount.
To help with the easing of social and economic lockdown measures from the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, businesses are asked to maintain records of staff and customers on their premises.
Goodeats, the most innovative online ordering platform on the market, has implemented a new feature to support NHS Test and Trace.
As a result, Goodeats has surged with its table ordering, collection and delivery features.
Through these uncertain times, our development team has worked hard to make it easier for you. We continue to innovate and welcome suggestions from our customers.
