Goodeats x Candid Beer Case Study

Discover how Goodeats, a dynamic web app that allows your customers to order in advance and collect from you, or have their items delivered, helped Candid Beer reach its business goals.

With COVID-19 global pandemic sweeping the UK, the government closed many hospitality and retail businesses or encouraged them to change the way they operate. We’ve asked one of our lovely customers, Mark Bamping, Director of Candid Brewing Co. Limited to share his thoughts and feedback about how Goodeats helps his businesses to stay operating during these challenging times.

Candid Beer is a craft beer bottle shop and taproom situated at Woodings Yard, Stafford’s Cultural Quarter, selling a wide selection of craft beer on draught, as well as in can and bottle, to drink in and take away. Candid Beer also stocks locally produced gins, wines, snacks, soft drinks, and loose leaf teas as well as locally roasted coffee.

Business Goals

Offering customers a wide and ever changing selection of products – in particular craft beer – is a central aim for Candid. But in addition to that, they’re really passionate about building community focused around a shared love of amazing beer, and finding ways of connecting people.

Why did you choose Goodeats?

When we were going through the process of choosing an EPOS provider ahead of opening in April 2019, knowing that Goodeats was an additional module as part of The Good Till’s offering was certainly an attractive benefit.

But in all honesty the current Coronavirus crisis is what pushed us into using it. Sensing that we were very likely heading towards a situation where we would have to close our doors to the public, I made contact with our relationship manager to get us set up with Goodeats. It was really easy to set up, and it meant that the day we were told to close our doors to the public we were able to instantly launch our web store to keep selling our products to our customers through Click & Collect and Delivery orders. As the wider lockdown happened, we were able to switch to 100% Delivery orders which has been amazing for us as a business.

How did Goodeats help you achieve your business goals?

The great thing about Goodeats is the ability to present your full product range to customers as a digital shopfront. It means we can ensure that our customers are able to browse and select from our wide range of products in a clear and easy to use format, and to order with ease. Since launching our Goodeats store, we actually think customers find it easier and less daunting to browse our products online than in person!

But with our other core business goal of wanting to connect with our community, Goodeats has proved to be a lifeline in the current climate. It means that we are able to stay in touch with our loyal customers, to keep supplying them with the products they want, and to keep building our craft beer community online.

Feedback

Goodeats has honestly kept our business afloat and operational during a really challenging time. In many ways it has been a lifeline for us as a business, but also for our customers who want to keep purchasing our products! Once the current crisis is over and we return to more normal business operations, I know that we will be better placed as a business now that we have diversified our route to market, and using Goodeats to generate further revenue online. We’d highly recommend businesses of all sizes to explore how Goodeats could help grow and diversify your business.
